Ineke Brinkman came to Canada from The Netherlands in 1979. Annually she receives visitors to Canada from The Netherlands and other parts of Europe. Arranging travel to and within Canada and the United States for the Europeans has developed into a significant part of Brinkman Travel's business.
In 1997 Ingrid Raakman joined the company; coincidently Ingrid had lived in the same Dutch town of Apeldoorn as Ineke. Their contacts with the Dutch community, including greenhouse growers and associates have led to booking many trips to The Netherlands for trade shows, visiting family and friends and other activities. The international horti fair is an exhibition in food and vegetable horticulture held in Amsterdam each November in the RAI in Amsterdam. This is a must go to event for those who wish to stay on top of technology and development.
In 2003 Brinkman Travel was the first Canadian travel agency employing Amadeus Waterways for a Riverboat Cruise through the Dutch and Belgian Waterways. This contact has flourished into a love affair with riverboat cruises. Our Tulip Time Cruises are very popular starting the end of March and they run through mid May and of course they include a visit to the world renowned Keukenhof.
We have prepared five tours/cruises for Floriade 2012, a worldwide flower event, held once a decade for garden aficionados. This will be held in Venlo in the most southern Dutch province called Limburg, 140 km south east of Amsterdam. Anyone who loves flowers must attend, as the next Floriade won't happen until 2022.
